Now available to buy directly from the FOXTON LOCKS SHOP!

Are you looking for something to do with family and friends or a fun day out with the kids around Foxton Locks and Village? Then why not try the Foxton Locks and Village Treasure Trail. The Foxton Locks and Village Treasure Trail is a fun and imaginative self-guided Spy Mission themed walk which will have you exploring the hidden treasures of Foxton Locks.

As you follow the route, can you solve the clues to crack the code like a true secret agent? Follow the Trail, solve the clues and see the sights!

Set in the beautiful rolling countryside of Foxton, this trail takes you round the famous site of Foxton Locks, the fantastic Inclined Plane Boat Lift and Boiler House museum.
This Trail starts at the ‘top’ car park on Gumley Road and takes you on a circular route along the canal, down past the locks and along the towpath to the village before leading you up the other side of the locks, past the Inclined Plane, to return to your starting location. The Trail is 2.5 miles long and should take around 3 hours to complete. It’s suitable for pushchairs but as towpaths and cross country paths may be slippery when wet, good walking footwear is recommended. Dogs welcome on this site!

Foxton Canal Museum is located half way up the famous flight of Foxton Locks. Models, interactive displays, and a wide range of waterway artifacts tell the story of the boat lift, the locks, the waterways and the people who lived on the canals. The Museum was opened in 1989 and is situated in the Boiler House of the lift which was reconstructed by Trust Volunteers. The Museum tells the story of the lift and canals it served, conserving the history for the benefit of all. The Staff consist of a full time keeper supported by volunteers. Museum staff and volunteers research the history of the lift and local canals. We are proud to say that the Museum has won a number of awards, amongst them 3 Leicestershire Heritage Awards and a highly commended in the prestigious, nationally based, Gulbenkian Awards. The Museum is Accredited with the MLA and a member of several Museum organizations, including the Leicestershire and Rutland Museums Forum. For more information please click www.fipt.org.uk/museum
